EDINBURGH: Scotland is experiencing a rapid growth in its Fintech industry with a record 100 innovative startups for the first time.

At the start of 2019, there were 75 fintech companies in Scotland, which has now increased to over 100.

The announcement was made by Kate Forbes, Public Finance and Digital Economy Minister as she welcomed the FinTech community to the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood.

The rapid growth of the industry is credited to Scotland’s tech friendly ecosystem attracting foreign firms, native startup growth and existing firms building new solutions.

Scotland is also planning to host Scotland’s International Fintech Festival between 9 and 27 September.
